Izzy graduated from the Data Engineering, AI and Machine Learning bootcamp in January 2026. We caught up with her a month later to hear about her experience with the course and finding a job.
What job role have you secured?
Junior Technical Advisory Consultant
How did you find your time on the bootcamp?
I really enjoyed my time on the bootcamp. The structure of a morning lecture and then the rest of the day doing a sprint based on the content of the lecture was fantastic way of learning and gaining experience.
What were you doing before the bootcamp?
After university, I had worked in hospitality before solo travelling for almost a year.
What made you interested in moving into tech?
I wanted to move into tech because I wanted to engage with my problem solving and analytical skills. With the continuous development of new technologies, I knew that my career in tech will allow continuous learning and development.
What made you choose Northcoders?
I have a friend who did the software bootcamp a couple years prior to me looking into it and they highly recommend Northcoders.
What was the support like on the course?
The support on the course was fantastic. There was day to day support with the course content.
I also had lots of help when I applied for jobs and went through the interview process. I was able to schedule quick meetings to get advice for technical and behaviour interviews and to also get advice on how to make the take home tech project stand out!
I also had a lot of support writing my CV. There were regular check ins with Darren the career support, providing constructive feedback that made writing my CV easy.
How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?
Luckily, I was able to secure a job while completing the course with the support from the staff.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?
If you want the perfect stepping stone into the tech sector, I cannot recommend doing a Northcoders bootcamp enough. The breadth of topics we learnt about provided fantastic foundational knowledge to get your foot in the door or learn more skills if you have some experience already.
