- When did you graduate from Northcoders?
I graduated from Northcoders in December 2021.
- What’s your role and which company do you work for?
I’m now in my second role since leaving Northcoders as a Software Engineering Consultant at Burendo.
- Are you enjoying your role?
Yes – I really enjoy the variety of work that we do and being able to build a breadth of technical skills. I also enjoy the collaboration with people across the disciplines both from my company and various clients from test, product, delivery, design etc.
- How did you find your time on the bootcamp?
My time on the bootcamp was intense, but I love learning and so intense in a good way! I loved going through the process with other people who were also going through a career pivot, everyone had interesting stories and amazing to see people from different backgrounds also developing their coding skills too and smashing it.
- What were you doing before the bootcamp?
Before the bootcamp I worked as an analyst in insurance, there were aspects I enjoyed but ultimately I fell into quite a niche which made it quite hard looking for new roles.
- What made you interested in moving into tech?
I had done a bit of coding through university and I loved how immersive it could be and, especially with front end, being able to see something come to life while you’re working. There’s so many directions you could take your career once you’re in tech and that was exciting to me.
- What made you choose Northcoders?
I’d seen a lot of great testimonials and videos online and it looked like a fun way to learn. I also got in contact with a friend of a friend who’d been to Northcoders and was thriving in her career and so I had confidence it was a great foundation for my own career.
- What was the support like on the course?
So helpful! The tutors were always on hand with support and guidance, and never made you feel silly for asking a question.
- How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?
Northcoders gave me personalised advice to refine my CV and prepare for interviews, with practice interviews available too. The knowledge they had of the partners on the job board was also really helpful – I got an offer on my second interview for the job I was really keen on, so can’t say fairer than that, really!
- Do you think that Northcoders prepared you well for your role?

- What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?
Make sure you’re ready to soak in as much information as possible – all of it from the prep courses right to the end is extremely valuable! Don’t waste the opportunity!
