Saran is currently studying on a Northcoders’ bootcamp. He shares how he got interested in coding and what he thinks of the course.

What made you interested in Northcoders?
I first encountered coding during my BSc in Geography (Spatial Data Science) at KCL. I enjoyed the problem-solving aspects and the inherent challenge of using Python for my coursework.
While I knew I wanted to return to programming, I realised I didn’t want to pursue data analysis, which was the primary focus of my degree.
Northcoders provided the perfect opportunity for me to break into software development without needing a formal Computer Science degree.
What do you think of the course so far?
The course is highly practical, which I believe is the most effective way to learn. After the tutors provide the fundamental concepts, we dive into well-structured “sprints.” This is where the real hurdles appear, but the tutors are always on hand to support us when needed. It is incredibly fast-paced and challenging, but the hard work pays off when Darren, our careers coach, helps you land your first role in tech!
