‘I had zero programming knowledge before the bootcamp, but at just 20 years old I was able to land my first programming job. Northcoders gave me the skills, confidence, and direction I needed to start my career in tech.’

- When did you graduate from Northcoders?
I graduated in March 2022. - What’s your role and which company do you work for?
I’m working as a PARE Web Developer at the University of Chester. - Are you enjoying your role?
Yes, I’m really grateful for this opportunity and I’m enjoying the role a lot. - How did you find your time on the bootcamp?
I had a really good experience. Since I was new to the UK and my English wasn’t very strong, I received a lot of support from my tutors. When I explained that I struggled with understanding English, they spoke more clearly and patiently, which really helped me learn and feel included. - What were you doing before the bootcamp?
Before the bootcamp, I had just moved from Pakistan. I was only 19 at the time and was considering starting a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, but one of my uncles suggested the bootcamp route instead, and I decided to join Northcoders. - What made you interested in moving into tech?
I’ve been interested in computer science since high school, and my passion grew stronger through college. - What made you choose Northcoders?
One of my uncles recommended it to me, and after doing my own research online, I was convinced it was the right choice. - What was the support like on the course?
The support was amazing. As English is my third language, I expected to struggle, but the tutors never treated me any differently. They always made sure I understood and gave me all the help I needed. - How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?
I received a lot of support. They helped me improve my CV, prepared me through mock interviews, and guided me through the job search process. - Do you think that Northcoders prepared you well for your role?
Yes, definitely. I had zero programming knowledge before the bootcamp, but at just 20 years old I was able to land my first programming job. Northcoders gave me the skills, confidence, and direction I needed to start my career in tech. - What advice would you give to anyone thinking of doing the course?
It was one of the best decisions of my life. Getting my first programming role at 20 wouldn’t have been possible without Northcoders. If you’re thinking about joining, don’t hesitate — go for it. It’s completely worth it.
