Where Your Connections Become Kin
Our project is called Kinnected, it’s a reminder app designed to help people stay in touch with loved ones, especially when they’re far apart and living in different time zones. Between busy schedules and multiple messaging platforms, staying connected can become more effortful than it should be. Kinnected helps by combining real-time chat, visual indicators, and time zone syncing, so reaching out feels easy and thoughtful. It simplifies communication by offering a functional, intuitive, and engaging way to remind people to check in with the people who matter most.

Tech Stack
We used TypeScript, React Native, Express, NativeWind, PostgreSQL, Expo Go, Node.js We wanted to make a mobile app and have familiarity with React, so React Native with NativeWind and Expo Go were the logical choice. We opted to learn TypeScript because we wanted to challenge ourselves and it seemed a natural next step after learning JavaScript. Our familiarity with Express, PostgreSQL and Node.js informed us choosing them for the backend part of the project.
Challenges Faced
Learning the new tech stack, dealing with different behaviour of the code on different operating systems, working remotely as a team and resolving merge conflicts on GitHub.
